It has come to our attention that electronic component related to imaging in some Nikon COOLPIX 5400, COOLPIX 5000, COOLPIX 4500 and COOLPIX 3500 digital camera may, on rare occasions fail. 

We announced occurrence of this issue with our COOLPIX5700, COOLPIX SQ, and COOLPIX3100 on October 10, 2005.  However, with continued investigation into this matter, we discovered that the same issue may occur with Nikon COOLPIX 5400, COOLPIX 5000, COOLPIX 4500 and COOLPIX 3500 digital camera when used in conditions of high temperature and/or high humidity. 

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused users of the additional affected products. 

Should you experience this problem with your Nikon COOLPIX 5400, COOLPIX 5000, COOLPIX 4500 and COOLPIX 3500 digital camera, Nikon will replace the component free of charge when failure of the applicable component is confirmed upon camera inspection even if the camera's warranty has already expired.

[ Indications ]
- Images exhibit a strong colour tint.
- Images  are totally black.
- Images show distorted lines

When occurrence of the problem indicated above is confirmed to be caused by failure of the electronic component related to imaging, Nikon will repair the camera free of charge

In addition to repairing this problem free of charge, Nikon will reimburse the cost of repairs to those users who have already paid to have this problem corrected.
